The weekend did not go well for the journaling of food intake. I managed to wipe the photos from my phone, I continuously forgot to write things down, and so on. I do remember that on Sunday (2nd of May) I drank about 1.7 litres of cola, however.
Changes I've noticed in the past ten or so days, since starting this journal, include more attention paid to the display of food, consideration given towards light levels during meal times, and the reluctance to drink a couple mouthfuls of water so frequently (because four or five photos of water in a row seems a bit boring to me). On the whole I've been having fun with it.
I was wondering a little whether I would begin to lean towards foods that are considered more healthful, after documenting every speck of fat and sugar for over a week, but so far, no. I think the reasons for this could be a) I'm fairly happy with what I eat anyway, and b) I haven't been documenting quantities. In some cases the quantity of food is exactly as shown in the photo - for example, a sandwich tends to consist of one sandwich, not two or three. But in some cases I have second helpings. This is particularly true for cola (diet or otherwise), water, the kind of dinner that gets scooped out of a dish (eg, casseroles, pasta), and small things that come in packets, like chips or M&Ms. That being said, I don't plan to start documenting quantities as well, partly because I feel uncomfortable about it, and partly because I worry that after a year I'll end up with an obsessive disorder regarding food.
